I liked the perspective created by this almond orchard in Chico, California. It was a winter day so that laced warmth so I cooled the color of the trees and boosted the color of the ground grasses to evoke lavender.

This photo of my husband was taken during the largest snowfall in New Mexico's recent history in which we got stranded. He was looking into the window of a house that reflected back the rear wall, his silhouette, and the snow capped mountains behind him. I doubled the image in PhotoShop and played with the colors to create a surreal portrait.

Ice Mask

This piece of ice was found in the mountains one winter. Holding it up to the face converted it into a mask with a strange resemblance to Munch's The Scream.

These rusty gears are a detail of a welded sculpture I saw in Santa Fe. I liked their form and the play of positive and negative space. The color has been boosted and played with in PhotoShop.

This building in Seaside, Oregon was in the midst of restoration. It was a foggy day and the flat light made the reflections in the windows stand out. I worked with them a bit in PhotoShop to bring out the colors.

This is the window of a great shop in Flagstaff which was reflecting the buildings across the street from it. I played with PhotoShop a bit to get the colors, textures and reflections to stand out.

'Big Girl' Golden Eagle

'Big Girl' was born in an hundred year old nest on the cliff across from my house. She contracted West Nile Virus and had to be taken to Birds of Prey Raptor Rescue Center in eastern Colorado where she stayed for 8 months. This photo was taken after her rehabilitation on the day of her release. She stood on this rock for while and proudly displayed her wings moments before she took off.

This is the costume of an elder at one of the pueblo dances in New Mexico. I was amazed at the unique assortment of fabrics, textures and colors.

The little dancer in the center of the photo was hiding behind her mother and aunts because she was so shy. When she finally had to dance, she started crying in the middle of the open plaza. A young cousin ran to her rescue and danced with her.
